John Adams Leads fight to stop Maryland Internet Censorship HB65
John Adams, co-founder and president of A Foreign Affair, is leading the charge against Maryland Senate Bill 65. This bill, if put into action, will require all of the men in Maryland who use international dating services to be subject to fingerprinting. Even if the person does not have any type of criminal record, he must be subject to fingerprinting in order to use A Foreign Affair or other international introduction services. If singed in to law it would make it illegal for Maryland Residence to view dating websites content with out finger printing and background check. This bill is completely unnecessary and seems to be put in place only to make things more difficult for international introduction companies like A Foreign Affair. John Adams, along with A Foreign Affair, is leading the fight against this unnecessary bill.
The point of a matchmaking service like A Foreign Affair is to expose single men and single women to each other in order to find a match that has chemistry. With that in mind, does it make sense to require companies like A foreign Affair to spend the time, money, and effort to send out information about each man to every single woman he writes to? Of course not! This bill imposes on the freedom of the men in Maryland who simply wish to correspond with compatible women from other countries with the goal of long-term relationships. Furthermore, this bill imposes on the international introduction companies who are simply trying to run legitimate businesses and help men and women around the world find happiness With John Adams, A Foreign Affair, and the help of everyone who is willing, Maryland Senate Bill 65. will be stopped.

The Senate Finance Committee has still not acted on HB 65 which is necessary to move this legislation forward.
So there may still be some time and thoughtful, articulate, polite letters or phone calls to the members of the Senate Finance Committee might make a difference.
